I've never tried any Zex products.I was always under the impression that they sold ricer garbagie?(I'm not trying to flame anyone who may run it,and that is only my "opinion" )If they really sell for $575 as posted, I wouldn't waste my time on it.I have run compucar(junk) Nos(selling crap w/ name recogniton) and NX(by far the best nitrous solonoid and plate I have used). NX is a much better product for about the same price. Just my .02 on the matter .

use what ya got!! been using NOS for year's no problem's, if it need's to go faster just put more to it, it's all in the tune up in my opinion.

The tune sure will help, but if your running pencil neck tiny noids..... it won't matter what jet ya put in it. True or not?

right! smaller noid's will only flow X amount of no2 no matter what plate your using true. but using a plate with more hole's will help to atomize the mixture better no matter what noid your using, I use the NOS cheater plate's for a single carb applacation 32 hole's with NOS super powershot on each carb(2 660's) each is able to produce 175+/- hp @6psi

Some people see the smaller solenoids such as the NOS Super Power shots or what Zex uses in some of their stuff as inferior for the simple fact that it is small. It seems that people are quick to buy into other companies marketing hype when it comes to solenoids. Some companies will only carry larger solenoids possibly for several reasons. One is it easier to have one large solenoid that is used in all your kits which cuts down on inventory overhead as well as it cost less when having to stock multiple styles of solenoids when placing orders with vendors. Now assuming company only stocks large solenoids it is in their best interest to convince the market at large that the smaller solenoids are somehow inferior in quality. Similar to a company that only offers wet kits telling you that dry kits are unsafe. Now there is something to be said about larger solenoids having less pressure drop and therefore making more power than a smaller solenoids with equal jetting. But the perception that they are somehow inferior just because of their size is to me misguided. |

they might be talking about what the plate is rated for compared to what the solonoid is rated for... 400hp capeable plate mated with a 250hp capeable 'noid will be limited to 250hp shot for obvious reasons. is this what you were thinking of with the pencil-neck solonoids you were talking about?

not sure what solonoid's he is talking about, but even the "pencil neck" noid's will have a hard time overcoming extremely high bottle pressure's they are rated at a lower amp draw, the old power shot may be what he was refering to, they were rather small ,nos for a while used them for purge noid's when the superpower shot replaced them, and there good for 175hp+/-(which is a pretty healthy shot!!)

Alot of good input on this topic. So it seems to me that flow is more important than the delivery of the nitrous. So a fogger manifold with large solenoids would be the best way to go?

yea, thats a safe bet you will have a good reliable setup with a fogger manifold and big 'noids.

I was running the Zex perimeter plate system on my s10 with a RPM air gap manifold and it flows great! I loved the system and I think it was totally worth what I paid. I got it off of ebay brand new for $475. They use large solenoids, can handle a progressive controller pulsing them and it does a great job of distributing to all the cylinders. I traded the truck today for a monster truck though.
