looking for diff. way's of pulling timing out using a progressive controler, let say your using a controler with a start of 30% of 175hp and ramping to 100% over 6sec. you pull 2deg. to start, how would you pull the rest over that 6sec. time frame? this need's to be hand's free. am using timer's and relay's now, just looking for diff way's, using all MSD ingnition part's. thank's

Not exactly sure how you could pull timing over a time period that long... most people that I know that run a progressive nitrous setup have it all in within a second or two... all in by the top of the first gear anyway. If you wanted to do it like that, you could get a 2 or 3 stage retard box and pull a few degrees at a time at different RPM's... the only tricky part would be figuring out what rpms you'll be running at a certain time down the track, in order to pull just enough timing at the same time you're adding spray. Say you started at 30% of your 175 out of the hole, and were all in within 2.5 seconds. You could pull 2 degrees off the initial hit, then two more at say 5000 rpms, then 2 more at maybe 5500, for a total of 6 degrees pulled. Only tricky part is figuring out which rpms to pull the timing from to keep the power smooth. Hope that helps

we'll be at the track wed. here's what I'll try, have the 3 stage retard box, will leave on plate's 400rpm after launch pull 4deg. (100hp), progressive will hit 2nd stage at the 330 @ 30%,(approx 3to4 sec.out) 2nd timer in controler will will lift ground and pull 2 more deg. now I've added a digaset timer to lift ground on 3rd retard at (now I won't know this setting till after I make a run)1/8 mi. maybe 5 or 6sec. from start another 4 deg. we'll see how that work's like you said need to keep it smooth, don't want to pull it all at the start will be to much for it to catch up. if this work's o.k. will step it up 25hp ea. time and a few lmore deg. out. will let you know wed. nite how it worked out. thank's for the input it may play into this. Matt

Yeah. let us know how it works... I'm pretty knew to progressive big shots and timing, but that's the general idea I was catching on to at the last big race I went to...
