View Full Version : Just got my kit :D

Just got a used dual stage set-up. Has a Zex dry box w/75 shot for the first stage, then a DynoTune "barebones" wet kit w/ 75 shot for the 3nd stage. I found it used online for really cheap, so I jumped on it. Anyways, the kit said it had a purge, yet I don't see one (unless Zex box has built in purge or something like that). So, what I was going to do is use the dry kit as a purge kit, and just run the wet kit for right now. Looks like everything's here, except switches. I'm about to buy Dynotune's 2 stage electronic window switch w/TPS, so I won't need a WOT switch. I'm not getting a heater just yet, that's further down the road. Nitrous will be a track only thing, so I don't think a heater's going to play a major role just yet. Any suggestions, recommendations, etc? What about my purge idea, what do you guys think?

I have a Dynotune system and I have had no problems as of yet. Sound to me like you have it all figured out. A heater is not as important with the summer months but when it gets cooler you will start having pressure problems. Best of luck

That's what I assumed, which is why it isn't on the list for as of right now. I've got a bud who sells parts locally, so I'll get with him and see if he can get me a deal on that and other unnecessary, but helpful parts.

As for the system, it's a Zex system with Dynotune fuel and nitrous solenoids.

RadRacer, don't forget we're having a contest for a bottle heater kit. If you'd like to participate, here are the details in this thread (http://nitrousforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=4483).

I know, but it goes by post # and referrals. I have no referrals, and very few posts, so....

OK, checked out the jet calculator. Good find with that Rob :D. Says I should run a .036 N and .020 F to get 50 to the wheels....dynotune says to run .021 fuel, so i'll probably run that or a .022 to be safe. The calculator says to run .044 N and .042 F for 75 shot :D

get out there and promote the site and keep posting.

even though it's summer, when the bottle gets about half used, maintaining pressure starts to be an issue. i used mine at the track to keep it around 1000 psi.

I still don't think I'm going to be able to get it. I mean, look at your stuff:

31 referrals x 5= 155 credits
+ 445 posts x 1= 600 credits. I have 5 :(

for one, i'm not in the contest. i'm an admin here.

second, if i was, i only have eight credits right now. it runs from aug to sep. so, all previous posts and referrals don't count.

Ahhh! I get ya.....well then, it's time to start horing it up :D Of course, none of my posts will be completely pointless spam.

Anyways, does anyone think I'll have any problems using the Zex NMU as a purge kit? It has hookups for intake and a vacuum, which I don't know if they're needed or not.

OK. I was looking into pulling the Zex NMU box apart and pull the noid from it and use it as a purge. I posted on a couple sites asking what they think, and one guy said he'd buy the box from me for $50. what do you guys think I should do? Think I can find a N2O noid for that price?

I say sell the box for 50 clams and add a few more to it, then buy a new or used purge kit. The price on this used kit is pretty good. I just searched and saw a few new ones for 15-20 bucks more...

I looked again after I posted. This one from Dynotune is even cheaper and new too boot...

yea purges you can build yourself for pretty cheap also, little pencil-neck 'noids go for less then $50 on ebay quite often and you can go from there for next to nothing.

OK. He said he just bought a new converter, but in a few weeks he'll have the money. I'm getting $65 for it. I also contacted the previous owner of my kit and he said he must have left the purge in his garage then. Once he gets home, he'll be sending it my way. So, it's a win-win situation :D. I'm also buying my MSD RPM Window switch tonight (watching one on eBay, if I don't get it, I'll buy one new), then go to radioshack tomorrow and get the necessary parts for the DIY Adjustable RPM module I posted about.

Do you guys think I should sell the NMU, or should I keep it and do a dual stage set-up like it was set-up to be?

I'll keep you guys updated on the rest :D

I wouldn't throw to much nitrous at that 3.8 v6, a good single stage should do the trick, if you go higher then 100shot you can get a progresive controller to help out with the torque loads you will be giving your internals.

would you need the NMU for anything besided activating a 2nd stage of nitrous? if not, sell it and get stuff you will actually use.

P.S. I am getting exited to hear your review on the DIY adjustable RPM module! good luck.

Ok, still waiting on previous owner to get back with me about the purge :( . Also trying to work out a deal with someone who has a window switch and going to check around locally for one. Friend says he has a blowdown tube for me and will help me install it all once I'm ready, also going to ask him if he has a window switch (Looking for MSD so I can make the adjustable box I posted up). I may end up just buying one brand new and get it over with. The suspense is killing me. I had thought of selling the kit, but think I've changed my mind. I pulled it all out the other day and hooked the noids to a battery. They worked just fine, so that's good news. My ashtray switches are on their way, once they get here I may start installing the kit and just avoid the window switch until it gets here. I won't spray with out it, but I can get everything hooked up and purge and such. I'll keep you guys updated once more happens. I'M SO EXCITED I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Ashtray switches are on their way, along with a purge kit and MSD window switch :D. All I need to complete this is get a WOT switch, FPSS, and install it all :D. Hoping to get it all wired up and ready next weekend!!

Got a WOT micro switch, along with some DR's :D. I plan on spraying at around 2800 RPM, so traction may be a bigger issue (already is)

How's the wiring look? In the future I plan on putting a FPSS in line with the relay's ground, but I figured it could wait since I've already tested my system and it meets my needs. ARM is built and waiting for installation, have it adjusted for 2900-5700 RPM. Pretty must just waiting for a nice day to go install it. Have Mon, Tues, and Wed off, so I may start working on it then :D

Purge still hasn't shown up though. I've been trying to get ahold of the previous owner, but no answer. Thinking I may just need to go buy one :(.

How's my wiring look? About to go out and start on that. Just finished making my bottle mount. I basically made this> http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/catalog/product_details.asp?group=23&model=75&dept=11&product_id=984

But it didn't cost me anything. We had some scrap metal laying around, and used some rivets to hold it together, glued some leftover carpet onto it, and riveted some nut plates i found on the underside. :D Hoping to get it all finished up tomorrow, and then pick up my jets tues. Fri I should be getting some times, and hopefully i'll be able to bring my DR's cuz i'm gonna need the now. I'll be spraying from 2700 to 5700.
