Hi im new to the forums...so hello, well i have a raptor 660, i would like to put nitrous on, im thinking somthing simple, a dry kit, i want like a 20hp shot, and im guessing put it right into my intake filter. im thinking of a 2lb/5lbs bottle. this is for an ATV, its not fuel injected, carbs. If anyong has ever done this or can help me out pics anything please. if someone can tell me a list of everything i need to buy. im thinking of just making my own kit. Thanks...

ps. i have racing can take nitrous, i have racing cam and valves, almost fully built motor, just the crank is stock. the nitrous is not gonna be used very often, i only want it for when i need it.

This is going to be a very unique nitrous setup, but there are a few things that we will have to know to help guide you in the right direction. You will probably have to build the kit yourself (which is not very difficult) b/c I doubt there are any specific kits for your application.

some useful information for us to know will be...

-does it have a fuel pump? I ask b/c a lot of carbed motorcycles and atv's just use gravity feed as their fuel delivery system.
-if so, tell us a little about your fuel system... does it have a fuel pressure regulator, anything else we should know?
-if no FP, do you feel confident your fuel pressure will stay consistant or will it rise with a full tank of gas and drop with less gas?
-just to clarify, is it a 1-cylender or 2-cyl?
-with a carborated setup you will probably have to use a plate system or direct port (unless you have a FPR, then you might be able to go with your orig plan of a dry setup)... what made you choose a dry setup for your original idea, price? ease of installation? other?

sorry for this long responce, but you do have a very specified unique setup that you are looking for and I am just asking a few question that almost have to be asked to get you in the right direction.

P.S. welcome to the forum, I hope we can get you all setup with what you are looking for!

i think those are very good questions and chris to tell you the truth you will not be using the nitrous only when you need it cause from what everyone here says it is addicting like a drug

Like has already been said a dry kit isn't really going to work for you. I would just go with a standard motor cycle kit that matches the number of carbs you have (2 carbs = a 2 cylinder kit regardless of how many cylinders it actually is for example) Most all motorcycle kits will come with a fuel pump which you want to use and try not to intermix pumps between brand of nitrous kit as the pumps can be different pressures and could effect the jetting. That should get you pointed in the right direction at least.

ok thanks alot. im glad i found people that are willing to help me. well my bike uses carbs, its 2 carbs side by side. 1 piston. i have 3 intake valves and 2 exhaust valves. the left carb is for 2 valves, the right is for 1 valve. No fuel pump, its just with gravity. i was thinking jetting my carbs richer for a 20 shot of dry. i saw some guy he told me he had it that way. a 20 shot dry and he drilled a little hole and made it spray right into his air filter. i just havent seen that guy anymore so i cant ask him. and no fuel pressure regulator. its just a hose that comes from tank to carbs, gravity does it all.

Ive spent money on my bike just trying to not waste much more. i wieght bout 150 lbs 5' 7" so my bike fly's wit me on it :)

so yea..anything else? wat should i buy? im trying to stay as cheap as possible

if your planning on using nitrous just a little bit, you shouldn't jet your carb to compensate for the nitrous. doing that would make it run like crap whenever you werent using the nitrous. if your planning on having it be a drag race (or equivilent) vehicle where you will be on n2o more the 50% of the time then yes, re-jetting would keep it cheap, lightweight and simple.

from your first post you sound as though you will use it less then 10% of the time you are using it so running richer carbs would just hurt your performance.

I have not researched nitrous kits for bikes so I don't know what the kit prices run for but since you only have 1-cyl you can get away with running direct port nitrous injection to one for your two intake runners (probably the one running to two valves). for this you will need an in-line fuel pump, n2o solenoid, fuel solenoid, nozzle, and lines. the rest is just plumbing and other DIY work.

you can get everything on ebay or swap meets for pretty cheap, maybe $100-200 (depending on quality and age of parts) for everything to completely set you up.

anyone else have any ideas for him?

mikuni or tilson carb's? how many mm ? and is it a flat slide w/aclerator pump? now mikuni make's a fuel pump that is vac. operated (work's off of crankcase pressure) that should do the trick for a fuel pump and i'm 99.9% that it's adjustable.(we been using them on Jr.dragster's for year's) however I would like to see a photo of the intake to be sure of the location of where the injector would/should go. will be interesting to see this work out!

I really like the NX kit I have on the sled. There are lots of options, but I would spend the time and a little extra $$ and put a wet kit on it.

^ yes, that is what I am talking about. exept you would only have to plumb one nozzle rather then two like the first picture shows.

PS Summit, that looks like one kick-ass sled you have there, is it for personal use only or do you compete with other sleds in the area?
