Anyone used or know about using nitrous oxide and alcohol instead of gas? I have a Big Block Chevy engine with huge c ratio (was once a alcohol motor but I will run race gas). I was thinking of a seperate fuel cell with alcohol for the nitrous. Alcohol has many advantages so I thought with the nitrous it would be a good idea? Anyone have any ideas?

anyone i have spoken to uses c16 in the nitrous supply cell and it works fine.
i would ring nx, edelbrock or nos for their opinion.
cheers, justin.

if the fuel system is set up to run alcohol, run it for the motor and c16 for NO2, alcohol make's as much or more power than race gas and run's a lot cooler also is cheaper, although it will use more of it so that may be a wash, but with it running cooler it'd be perfect for a NO2 motor! and the tuning would be a hell of a lot ez'er for sure.

I dont want to run alcohol in the motor due to the fact that it may see some street use so I want to know in an emergency situation I could put pump gas and get home. Also, alcohol is cheaper but you would have to richen up the jetting and it would eliminate savings by using more.

I do like the idea of alcohol and nitrous due to the fact that a lower grade race fuel could be run without worries of detionation probs. I dont know anyone who has tried this anyone have ideas?

Everyone has pretty much covered it. As long as you aren't trying to run everything on alcohol it should be fine. Typicaly the easiest way to start out is to just run the normal jet spread and double the fuel pressure. You can also increase the fuel jet by 1.5 times but this usually leads to a flow restriction due to the nozzle/plate haveing a limited orifice size.

what is the compression ratio of the motor?
this will determine what type of fuel you will require.
if the c/r is too high for pump gas you will be up **** creek anyway.
get you engine sorted out first and then sort out the nitrous system.

my cr is at least 14:1
my idea of pump gas is just emergancy to get home (1/4 throttle or less with easy street driving. I have done this before with no problems on other motors)
I just like the alcohol idea because it would be cheaper for a nitrous run down the track vs running VP c-16 in motor and nitrous side of fuel systems. Ex, just run VP red (way cheaper) on motor and alcohol in a dedicated fuel cell for nitrous.

cheaper than a new set of piston's? 14:1 need's the 116 and the small amount of fuel you'll use on a no2 shot , not worth the hassel of alcohol, stick with gas you'll be better off!

methanol is a pain in the arse.
just run c16 in the dediscated n2o tank.
if the cr is 14:1 your screwed anyway for a street car. buy a trailer. that is your cheapest option.
