I'm new to this forum stuff, but by reading these post , it looks like there are some pretty smart people here. I feel like I'm working with a peice of junk for a car. Not too high tech, If you know what I mean. I bought an old vega out of a hay barn. It was an old race car. It, at one time had a big block in it. I have built a 383 stroker and a turbo 400 that I put it in it. It has a fuel cell, nitrous bottle, solenoids, 488 gears, 9 inch ford rear end, stuff like that, I have a predator on it,which I am beginning to hate. Now the questions! What plugs shoud I use? It has bowtie heads.everything is set up for 1600 to 6500 rpm. I need to get everything right before I use nitrous. I have a 250 plate, but I don't want to go with that much. mayby 125 later. I have never taken it to the track. I will post a picture of it whan I figure out how. can I jet this plate down to 100 or 125 without any problem. it has 40 holes in spray bars, if that means anything. Where do I start? I'll take all the advice that I can get. thanks oh yeah, How do I easly post a new thread?

wow a predator! that's the carb with only one large plate if I remember, dump it it's a piece of crap, yeah you can jet it down to what ever you need to, as far as plug's what's the C/R?, with 11:1 and a small shot (100 or so) I would use an autolite AR133 at 35 gap, then start reading them for correct color and over heating and go from there. sound's like a great project. good luck.

vega's arn't junk, I was desperatly looking for one when I stumbled across fiero's. I was looking for something to put a chev v8 in and weight less than 3000lbs. you have a good potential for a drag car their, and it sounds like it already is set up pretty nicely. and yes, you can drop that plate down to 100 or 125 shot if you would like, I am going to be running a plate with 40 holes also (I believe) and am going to be doing the same spray as you (100 to start then bump up to 125 later). I'm not sure if these plates can hold less then 100 shot safely due to possible distrubution problems but they are proven to hold down to 100 shot very nicely. for plugs... get tr6's they are 1 step colder then stock and are almost made for nitrous. there very popular with SBC nitrous guys spraying between 100 and 150 shot. good luck

Thanks for some good input. Just what are tr6's maybe what brand? I noticed the calculator on top do I just gess at a no. n2o jet and go from there, or is there a good beginning point. I have a 10 lb nos bottle with a heater, and a guage on the bottle. two small solenoids, purge valve ( not hooked up yet). A fuel pressure guage on the summit regulator, blue holley pump.and a trans brake on the th400. I'll get it all together soon I hope.

I took the predator off a while ago, but all I have is a 650 double pumper. I think I need more carb. what do you all think. by the way I have a copy of the predator users manual, I'll make someone a copy if they need it. thanks

I have been using r43ts a/c plugs . Are ngk's better for nitrous I noticed that my motor cuts out when I rev it up or wide open throttle even for a second

go to the drag strip, look under the hood of any sbc. 9 out 10 guy's use autolite's the rest use NGK'S, it's a great plug for NO2, and the heat range I gave you is correct for the shot you want to use, step up and go to a 132 good to a 300 shot!!! I picked up 3/10 over NGK'S with the autolite's and have never looked back!! and I was'nt talking about the car being junk!!! the carb they have been around for over 30 year's, again go to the track $10.00's say's you wont find any on any fast car's, that's a fact!!

I've had mine for at least 5 years there great when they are new, but just let it backfire one time, then forget it. I sent it back last year and they rebuilt it and flow tested it for a 360 dodge and it ran good for at leeeeeast a week! So I put it on the shelf then I thought it should be just right for this motor yea right! but I'll keep it just for sentimental reasons I guess.

yeah it'd be a great paper weight!!! clean it up put it on ebay and say good by to it, use the $$ to get a good 830/ 850, the motor will love it!!!

I need to find an 850 carb fairly reasonable. I can rebuild it myself if need be. If there is one out there let me know
