ok i have a question and it regaurds about tuning, for my four cylinder im gonna be running a 50 shot first (wana play it safe, im new to all of this but im learning as i go), how would i tune my car. i know i have to retard the timeing, but by how many degrees, if anyone has any imput about this i would greatly apprieciate it, of and the car in question is a Scion tC just in case you were wondering.

50 shot runs fine. No timing retard necessary.

do you intend on going higher?

hey dude i have a scion tc and i run a 75wet and i didnt retard my timing jus get ngk iridium plugs and change them very often ok dude and there really isnt a tuning its jus all bout your jet sizes and if you do dyno it make sure you get a good a/f ratio mine is about 12.1 11.9 and my car is running 258wtq and 205whp with jus and intake and the NOS nothing else

i do intend to go higher ... my ultimate goal is to build the car to hold a 100 shot (if possible for the car) for right now i plan to start off with a 50 shot and then move up to a 75 shot. as of right now i have the kit but its sitting in my garage i order my purge kit this past weekend so i should e receiveing it sometime this week, and all that i have left is to get my gauge and then im ready for install. the mods i have on the car right now are cold air intake, full crush bent exhaust (but will be changeing it to mandrel bent once i get a header) and i already have the NGK iridium plugs on my car. once i have all he bolt on that i can do, i will be upgradeing interanls in the motor to hold a 100 shot (again if it is possbile).

It seems there are alot of scion TC's on this site. Darth I'm running a TC and will be putting on a Zex kit in a few weeks. Window Switch, Bottle heater, Bottle Opener, Led Purge. It should be in on Monday. It's good to know there will be people with similar projects to watch.

I have just finished reading a book on nitrous systems and don’t think running a 100 shot would take much effort. There is already a scion running a 100 shot on a stock TC and he stated over 20 bottles have been used. The TC was designed to allow boost ie the trd (supercharger). With colder plugs and retarding the timing you should be fine. I personally will run a 75 shot until I can replace the pistons with the 8:1 turbo pistons ZIP makes, just for safety reasons. It’s my daily driver. The lower the compression the less chance of detonation. There are a number of turbo TC’s running 350 whp with out any damage. Descendent Racing was running a TC with 17 psi of boost at 350 whp and had over 20 races (2 hour sessions) not drags, before they popped the stock engine at 22 psi. The engine can handle the boost it is just a question of the temperature, and can you keep it from detonating. In my opinion it can be done safely with the stock engine with the right precautions taken. Check Scionlife.com for more info on the TC guys running NOS.

Darth have I seen you on Scionlife?

hey guys i think the max nitrous the tc can hold and not for long is 125 shot it was done by zpi racing i think 100 shot on stock its jus calling for a big boom after a while lol i have gone through 18 bottle on the 75 and the car still drives like stock when im not sprayin hey and im also tryin to build up my engine to hold a 150 shot but once i tought about it if im fillin up my bottle like 2 times a week then with the 150 shot ill be there every other day and now thats too much money so im jus gonna keep it as it is now

Darth have I seen you on Scionlife?

i highly doubt that you have seen me on scionlife, but i am a registered member there but i hardly ever go on. my tC is my daily driver as well but this is good news to here that the tC may be able to hold a 100 and more with the right precautions, il be installing my kit ever soon i just need one more part to buy and then the install can take place. ill post pics on as soon as everything is done and install. but i have on question for the other two tC guys ....where did you guys place your purge .... if you guys have any ???

i drilled holes right under the windshield wipers mine is like a V shaped they are in the black plastic part where the wipers are at its looks badass lol and they go high as hell but i hardly use it cause it wastes so much that i could be racing with it lol

LOL .. thats true, but if you dont mind could you take some pic's of where you have your purge placed b/c i thought about doing it there but i wasnt sure how it would look, im thinking of doing it out of my front grill.

oh yeah ill try to get some pics of that but hey dude if you do it out of the grill no one is really gonna be able to see and if you put it on the windshield everyone can see it fly up lol on btw i jus smoked a cobal ss s/c it was fun lol

I have the red led purge. I still have no idea where to put it. It would be cool to shot it out from the wipers, but I have not looked to see if there is room for it. How about having it shoot out of the wheel well at the car next to you, jk.

LOL .. to tell you the truth i was thinking about doing that, or out my front grill, or out my hood, b/c i have the reverse cowl induction hood by Kaminari.

how's the tune up going? if you were smart you'd run the purge along the fuel rail as skip all the glam, why waste all that cold air!! use it to cool the charge, ever heard that saying " if it don't go chrome it" save the nitrous and slap on some spinner's

hey why didnt you say you had the kaminari hood that would look bad ass man you should put it there it would be the ****

Spray it out the freaking hood, it would look sweet spraying the window.

Hammer 54 tell me where I should spray the purge for cooling the charge. I'm a little confused, do you mean, spray the purge on the fuel rail to cool the fuel?

I haven't read what car you are running (i'm sure you said it i'm just coming in late) but what he means is to route your purge line to dump on a metal peice of your fuel system. There is a lot you can do with this. You could even set the purge up to go to an intercooler tube that sprays your intercooler if you have one.

NOW your thinking!! that's a good one!! why waste it put it to work for you, you could probly even use it as a second spray into the front of your TB and let the ECM or MAP sensor make up the fuel, you know just for that extra bump at the finish line.

I wish I had and intercooler, that would mean I have a turbo.

Help me out here, If purge before I run the 1/4, how would that result into an extra bump at the end of the 1/4. Wouldn't any affect from purging the line be wasted whlie I am setting at the starting line. And if I spray the fuel rail how much of a diff would that make. The gas might drop in temp but only a few degrees. That temp change in gas would more than likely go back to normal temps before or during the run.
Thanks for the help

well the fuel in the tank will be cooler than what's under the hood, so it's bringing you back to normal right from the start, if the purge is directed into the air stream you would need to purge it before you stage as not to stall it, then while your near the finish line (WOT) you could bump it again for an extra little shot, may be just enough to win the race if it's close.

^ hey that sounds like a great idea but my purge solenoid is so damn huge and i have no jets on it i think it will bump up the shot to like a 300shot and that would blow up my engine in a second

interesting thread. I'm on spray with my tc. I am currently running a 50 dry shot, but I am converting to a wet kit once my sponsor gets back in town. We are installing a wet set up with a stand alone fuel system so I can run race fuel when spray is armed. I have I/H/E, pulleys, and etc. I'm working on using a stealth spray setup. My bottles (I have 2 connected in the car) are well hidden in the car (with some slight modifications :wink_smilie: ). The only major giveaway is the N2O digital pressure gauge in my gauge pod. Under the hood the lines are wrapped in rubber fuel line hose. Solenoids will be concealed. My arming switch and purge switch are changed over to stock looking rocker switches. The standalone fuel cell will be the only thing that looks out of place, but I can always tell people that it is my standalone fuel system for higher octane fuel.

Here were two purge set ups that I played with. They are videos...just click on the picture. I've got a vented CF hood coming and I may set my purge to spray through the vent. I know it doesn't go with the concealed theme.... but I can always change it.
