I'm new to the site but like what I see and read.
Just got a new toy(55 Chev 2DR Post). Installed an NX plate system this week. The car runs 11.90 to12.00's on motor. Planning on starting with 150shot and move up to a 200+ shot. I'd like to put this car well into the 10's.

I'd like to know what plug to run with my AFR heads. Especially when I step it up. I've heard a non-projected plug is a good idea but don't know a specific make or part #. I'm running a Champion C59YC now.

Car wt--- 3450 w/o driver. 388SBC w/11to1 Comp. Team G Manifold and a 950 AED Mod'd 950. 3600-3900 Super Street Fighter Converter and TH350 trans. 27x11.5X15 QTP Tire.
Yeah. I might need more gear. But i bought the car with these gears and haven't really flogged it much yet. I have a 4.11 Ctr section in the shop if needed. I did get some 1.70-1.72sec 60' times on motor only the first couple of times at the track. So we'll see what happens on spray.

i think with the 4.11's and the spray you would lower your 60ft quite a bit

I have a similar setup running a roller 350 with a set Dart pro 1's and a NX Hitman plate. I've been using the Autolights 3924 and 23's with great success.

Here is a plug reference chart courtesy of SRSNOW. Very helpful.

well this help's a lot, the champion's are out, with your cyl. head I would start with the autolite AR133 it's very close to the champ. 59 with out the progected tip, you don't want that with the spray, then read the link that's been posted above to "read you plug" it's very good,
your car sound's alot like my set up last year, 383,3440#, 3spd. tranz, brodix intake, 750 dom. carb. sportsman head's, 12:1c/r, 150hp shot, but I had 4:57 w/ slick's 30x 11:50 and a little better converter, coan 8in max effort w/ steel stator, here's the time slip every time!! 1.33 60ft (wheel's up all 60) 6.40 1/8 @ 104mph 10.20 1/4 128 mph shift @7000 thru the trap's @7200, and there is plenty left, so your on your way with a few change's your converter may not live long on the spray though, good luck

Thanks for the advice guys.
Went to the track last night. 150shot w/7psi fueld pressure, timing locked at 34deg. and 1050lbs bottle pressure. Ran 1/8 at 6.95/100.5MPH and 1/4 at 125.5mph. Two passes very, very close. Crossing at 5800-5900RPM.
I'm pretty happy with that as a starting point. Went to the scales this morning and the car weighed in at 3550lbs w/o me or 3750lbs at the track.
I guess when I get a colder set of plugs picked out I'll jet'r up for a 200shot and back the timing down.

what was your 60ft time with the spray

you should back off the timing at the 150 level, try 2deg. back and see if mph pick's up, if so keep going till it slow's then put 1or 2 back, what was the et. for the 1/4

Sorry. ET for 1/4 was 10.85sec and 60ft was 1.57sec. I'll try backing the timing down 2 deg. and see what happens.
