Hey guys, new on the site, wasnt too sure where to put this.

Just started spraying on my 03 S2k a few weeks ago and have been having an issue I was hoping could get cleared up.

Ive got the zex wet efi universal kit + a bunch of extras, zex purge, msd window switch, zex heater and remote opener along with an AEM UEGO so i can read my AFRs, currently running a 75 shot.

Anyways, I got the bottle filled up for the 2nd time and when I ran that bottle for the first time it worked great. However about a week later I turned on everything, purged out nitrous for a second or two, hit the gas and the AFRs hits a flat 10.0, engine sputters etc. running crazy rich, so I let off the throttle. Everything is turning on, and spraying, but for whatever reason it seems to be spraying the extra fuel and either no nitrous, or just air, i tried about 5 more times and got the same results.
Later I noticed that after I purged a nice big cloud of nitrous, I would purge again and it would come out clear for a few seconds before it turned white again. Is this normal for purging? My thought was I might have a leak in the nitrous line somewhere? Bottle pressure is at 1100 btw.

Next day, I did some fiddling, didnt find anything and decided to just hold on the nitrous for a few seconds to see if it would kick on, turned everything on, bottle pressure at 1100 and it goes to a rich 10.0 reading again, but I hold on the gas and about 3 seconds later all a sudden BAM nitrous kicks in and I go flying.

Im pretty much at a loss here, it feels like theres air in the lines, but after that last run I did some purge testing and I would purge for a few seconds, wait a few minutes and purge again and it was coming out white immediately, no clear at all.

a couple of thoughts here.
1100psi is kinda high.
how long is the line to the purge and where is it located? ( away from any major heat ) could be just getting hot and gassing up in the line.

the line from the purge solenoid is 2 feet long, goes under the air intake and next to the filter (K&N FIPK) and purges out of one of the vents in the hood. Makes sense to me as to why it sometimes purges air.

Any idea why the n2o doesnt kick on immediately?

we're talking about the line that comes from the bottle to the purge , thats the one that needs to be purged.

let say ya got this long line coming from the trunk and it runs along side something that gets warm / hot...the nitrous in there will gas up and not be a liquid till you purge it out.
then you drive around a bit before you use it ...unless you re purge just before you hit it... it will have returned to a gas and you'll have a delay in the hit.

just a idea.

Ah I see, ya that lines a 16' line from the trunk. Makes sense, is there any type of wrap one could use to keep some of the heat out on the areas in the engine bay?

Aeroquip make's a great heat shield for hose called fire sleeve. I'll see if I can find a link for it.

Looking for some more help again.

After buying some heat reflective tape that is supposed to withstand up to 1100 degrees radiant heat, I wrapped my whole 16' nitrous line from the bottle to the engine bay and everything was working fine. I go to hit it tonight and AFRs show 10.0 again (as low as the AEM will read) when normally its in the high 11s to low 12s when spraying. I went through the first 3 gears and the AFRs stayed at 10.0 the whole time, and definitely wasnt pulling as hard as it should be.

My nitrous line runs down the passenger side of the car, and at one point, it runs about an inch away from the header collector, and the rest of the car length its about 4" away from the exhaust. Is my placement bad and Im just gassing up the lines most of the time I try to spray because its too close to really hot parts? Only thing that makes me skeptical is that before I even turned the car on, I opened the bottle and purged to get ready and it was clear the entire time, at first it purged white for a split second, but then holding it for about three sets of 3 second purges, it was totally clear.

Anyone have any thoughts?
