answers from the manufacturers:

Yes. Use of a premium type leaded or unleaded fuel of 92, or greater, octane is recommended for most applications. Most Ny-Trex performance systems are designed for use with service station pump gas. However, when higher compression or higher horsepower levels are used, a racing fuel of 100 octane, or more, must be used.

For 4-6 cylinder engines, premium pump gas is required for safe use of your nitrous system when jetted up to 75hp. Above 75hp, racing fuel is recommended for maximum engine safety. For 8 cylinder engines, premium pump gas is adequate for nitrous system settings up to 125hp. Above 125hp, racing fuel is recommended.

NOS recomend's 92+ oct for all system's up to 100hp, then it change's with every kit after that.
at about 125 92+ oct. w/ booster or 100 racing gas , then it get a little diff for each of the bigger kit's starting with 150hp 100 racing min. but the highest that they recomend is 110 racing or .74 specific gravity for all the rest.

I'm asuming that they are basing this on ave. compression ratio's in the 10 to 1 and under range.
