View Full Version : Ticking Sound from braided S/S line?
As soon as I put the nitrous system in my car, I started to hear a light ticking sound coming from the engine compartment at idle, which can only be heard from inside the car. I removed the system, the sound stopped. I reinstalled the nitrous, the sound came back. A knowledgeable shop guy I go to heard it and immediately diagnosed it as harmonics in the braided fuel line. Two questions:
1) Anybody else have this sound or at least heard of this phenomenon?
2) What can I do to get rid of it? I thought of plumbing a small in-line filter in between the fuel rail and the fuel solenoid, kind of as a "muffler".

try finding where it's hitting and put a piece of rubber around it.
I did that a little. I had some silicone hose that I split lengthwise and put it around most of the fuel line from the rail to the solenoid. It didn't really help, though. I'm going to try to add more in order to more fully "insulate" the line and see if that helps any.
you might also try a rubber washer. Find the line that does it and then place a rubber washer under the mounting point for that solenoid. That may help if it is harmonics as it will buffer/dampen the frequency
OK, I'll try that-- thanks!

fuel line? or no2 line? if fuel line is it tee'ed off the stock line or from the tank to a regulator, deadhead or return style? deadhead's can make a ticking sound and send it dowm through the line, what kind of fuel press. are you getting? could be that you just have the wrong regulator for your type of fuel pump, there's to many ?? that need to be ask'ed
