HI, I'm Steve Sr. from Missouri. I have a 2006 GMC Sierra RCSB. It had a 4.3 V6 in it. I put a set of 4.10's in and programmed it with a superchip. Went 16.68. Not fast enough. So I installed a 100 shot ZEC nitrous kit and went 14.74. Not fast enough. So I pulled the motor and sent the cam out and had it reground changed the valves to 2.02 and 1.60's. shorty headers. Then ran a 14.50 at 93 mph. Not fast enough.
Now it has a 6.0 LS ready to drop in. I sent it to a race shop and they bored it .030 and did all the block work and clearences.Installed a set of forged Diamond pistons and a set of Scat forged rods. Cam is a comp. cam 279 duration and 581/588 lift ( roller). Stock heads with new Manley valves. I didn't have enough money for a steel crank.
The kicker is ,(and some will think I'm a little nuts), I deleted the computer and the FI. It now has a Edelbrock Performer and a Quick Fuel 850 carb. Also has a set of long headers. I was planning on hitting it with a 100 shot first and then 150 to see how it did. I was wanting to go as high as a 250 shot, but was told that with the stock crank I'd better not go any more than 150.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Hope I can contribute to this site.

welcome Steve, don't know how I missed this post but..cool that your here.
not a FI guy myself so what ya did is alright by me.....although I would have picked a better intake..like a Vic jr. / Brodix..or something like it.

it should be alright up to about 200 with that crank as long as its prept. right.
it's all in the tune and the timming that will keep it together.

Thanks for the welcome. What specs would you recommend for my 4300# pickup and 6.o with about 525 hp at the flywheel? What do you race?

this is what I did race a few years ago till it came down hard from a wheelstand, working on a new body as we speak.

Steve, welcome to the site.

I've heard that the LS motors will take big power on a stock bottom end ? I've been toying with the idea of a new Dart block with Scat internals Vs. a LS retro-fit :)

Great, I was talking to a guy in Springfield,Mo. today. He has a Shop that specalizes in LS motors. He said it would take a 200 shot all day. Got it running today and really feels strong. It is running way to rich so I left it at the shop so they could change the jets and lean it out. I don't want to ruin the rings. Also they are going to install my line lock. Still have to put the Cal-Tracs on and tranny cooler and purge. Thanks a lot for the info on the shot you have used. What car are you racing? By stock,do you mean just the crank or the complete motor is stock?
