I'm using 2 carter 4 barrel carbs on a weiland tunnel ram. question, using a NOS progressive controller, should I use relays to activate both plates as the current draw might be too much? I don't want to burn it out.

I have 2 holley 600 vac sec carbs, with would be easier to tune or streetable. it's a street car; 90 stang coupe,302, 9.7 comp, ported world sr heads,.574/.595 solid roller, 4000 stall ,4.56 gears, big tube headers. 2 super power shot kits, progressive controller.

are you using a fuel/nitrous noid for each plate? I use a single 40amp relay to activate my plate system 4 noid's in all, so yes use relay's.
as far as which carb's to use the holley's will be ez'er to tune imo.
if your interested I have two 660 tunnle ram style carb's for sale. pretty cheap.
Matt.

yea, 2 nitrous and 2 fuel noids, 2 purges. I'm going to use a relay for each pair. one question, with the nitrous controller, does it flutter the nitrous and fuel noids or just the nitrous noids ??

they only pulse the nitrous noids, why 2 purges? it should be wired as one system (one relay)

Correction (sorry Matt) the nitrous and fuel solenoids are pulsed together. You have to controll the fuel and nitrous simultainiously. If its just pulsing the nitrous and not the fuel you'll be getting all the fuel and only part of the nitrous. That would make for some fat AFR numbers.

I understand completely. I have to proof read every post I make a hundred times to make sure I type what I'm thinking. Bad connection between brain and hands. By the way you'll have to drive right past my place when you go visit your son. I live about 13 miles across the Tn/Ky state line right off I-65 about 5 miles. Next time you visit you need to make a little detour and come check things out.

ok , now I know the fuel noid is fluttering with the nitrous noid, where do I hook up the wire from the retard box to activate the retard and the nitrous at the same time? a relay wired to the 87A pole to switch neg off??

the retard box needs to see a ground (msd I'm asuming)
you can wire the ground right to the + side of the noid (needs to be within 2'' or so from it), when the noid is ativated it see's ground and turns the retart on.
you can check the system with the car off and bottle off, use a screwdriver next to the noids it will stick ( on/off) while it "flutter's.
Matt.

becareful with that.you don't want to pulse the timing retard with the solenoids.I ran the activation wire for my msd retard right to the coil #85 or #86 of my nitrous relay.does the same thing but won't pulse the retard.

good point! was'nt thinkin. I dont use the controler anymore (till I can clear the interferance) I use a seperate relay hooked to the rpm switch wired to ground the retard box.

Ok,I'll use a separate relay armed by the full throttle switch. got a new ??? i got these 600 vac sec holley carbs.I need to know if I can modify them to mechanical secondary like the 450's I've seen? they don't have rear pump squirters like double pumper carbs just mech. rear linkage. I want to use them on a weiand tunnel rammed 302 ford with ported World sr. 2.05"/1.60", scat rods,9.7 comp, tfs stage 3 cam(.574"/.595") on solid roller lifters,c-4 w/4000 stall,4.56 gears

they did make a kit year's ago to do this....but it was 1 to 1 ratio and you needed to upgrade to the 50cc pump and larger squirter's to overcome the lack of fuel on WOT.
not really a good idea IMO.

still got those 660's if you want them.... (made for the tunnel ram's)

give me a good lottery number, and I'll buy em. I found the mechanical secondary likage on an old 780 I had in the garage. it worked on the 600 once I drilled the hole in the throttle arm in the right place. just need one more.

Called holley service rep, it's not offered anymore.. I'll try these 2 edelbrock 600's I rebuilding. If they don't work, I'll put the single carb top w/my trusty old 750 dp top on the tunnel ram. if I can save a few bucks this winter, I'll have it plumbed for a small fogger system. thanks for your help.

how hard was it getting a v8 in there? I've loved those bodys since they were new. I'd like one for the street. can the stock diff take a mild v8?

you know ..you can play with the spring's in the vacume diaphram to make'em open quicker, if I remember silver is the lightest.

on msd 8975 grd kills the retard, retards when grd is removed.......solenoids (see) grd. when at rest, lose grd., when activated.

got rid of the tunnel ram. gonna use my Parker funnel web intake with a 750 dp. got a cheater plate with Y fittings for a dual stage system. starting out, I'll use a single 100 hp shot to see how the car respondes. then use a 100 shot on the delay timmer(1.5 sec.) then add the other 100 shot in addition in second gear. wear should I shift at? on motor I shift at 6500-6800. using a single red pump now, should I up grade it before I use both stages?
