Hey im new here.
My big question is how bad is nitrous?
I bought my 2003 zx12 with a nitrous kit installed, the bike had about 20000 miles when the motor seized up. I know the motor was stock, before the kit was added. I have been looking at a big bore kit that uses forged pistons. My question is... will that make a difference? How much of a difference? i cant really afford to buy this kit and then put nitrous back on if its going to do the same thing. So the questio here is, how much of a difference is there between stock pistons, and forged? and what else will be burnt when i use nitrous. Thanks

The forged will allow the motor to take a bigger shot (more hp), not sure if that answers your question though. As far as what gets burnt, nothing, as long as it is properly tuned and the system doesn't go lean for some reason (which would be my guess as to what happened to you when the motor seized on you)

Was it a dry kit or a fogger? I know some guys put the dry kits on the newer bikes and have problems with fueling at time that could be what caused it. Do you know which kit it was?

i do not no what kind of kit was on the bike, like i said it came with the bike. I plan on putting in this big bore kit and its gonna cost me more then 2500 so i dont want the same crap happening.

use the forged piston's, also use a good ex. valve (stainless steel).
if you still are going to spray this motor make sure you get it clearanced for nitrous. i.e. xtra end gap on ring's, xtra clearance for the pin bore.
also might want to think about getting the ring pack lowered to give xtra strenght in the crown area, also use a ring set like the "hellfire" type.
a good steel backed rod bearing would also be a good idea.

now I could go on but I think your getting the point.

good luck on the rebuild.
Matt.
