Ok got a Dodge Ram thats a Work In Progress anyway, Im putting a kit on it and I read the comments on the dual plane intake manifold hearing some people saying that it will detonate and etc. Well currently the 318 has a holley 750 on it and a performer rpm intake mani. Well I want to run a plate system 2 stage. 1st stage 75 shot to keep traction and then on 2nd stage 150 shot. What do you gurus think about that. All advice will be well taken.

Thanks in advance.

well it would be a nice setup but i dont think it will last long with the stock cast internals

I was going by what THE RACERS EDGE said

(keep in mind you should NOT exceed more then 20HP per cylinder on STOCK engine internals, example a stock 4cyl engine shouldnot use more then 80HP, 6cyl 120HP, 8cyl 160HP etc..) now what qualifies your engine as stock?? if you HAVENOT changed any of the following parts you have a stock motor: Pistons and Rings, Connecting Rods or Crankshaft! Just because you ported your heads, or swapped your cams doesnot mean your car can handle more squeeze!! Happy Juicing!!

The main thing that is abused in a motor is the pistons, rings, connecting rods, and crankshaft. If none of these things have been replaced then your motor is still considered "stock" in the nitrous world. You can put all the bolt on's you want but if you haven't changed the pistons, rings, connecting rods, or crankshaft then you have a stock motor, and the previous equation I gave you is a safe guide to nitrous use. Keep in mind the FFP (Flowwing Fuel Pressure) of the nitrous system you are using as well. All nitrous manufactures have a FFP that their systems are designed to use, this determines the jetting for the desired horsepower. Now if you are useing a sytem that had supplied jetting for a FFP of 8-10 psi and your useing a mechanical pump that has a FFP of 5-7psi you will run very lean and surely dettonate your engine regardless of horsepower level:ops:
Also with a dual plane intake it would be best to use a twin style kit that has spray bars on the outer edges ( example Nitrous Express kit # 60040) this system sprays nitrous and fuel directly at the ports and not down the center where a dual plane intake has the center deflector and could "sway" the spray of the nitrous and fuel causeing uneven distribution and that is not a good thing. Now you may have tracktion trouble with a 150hp shot off the line, however you can use a progressive controler or delay box to ramp in the nitrous slowly allowing it to come on like a turbo. This setupp is fairly easy and works very well!! Any questions donot hessitate to ask.

Regardles of how many stages being used the TOTAL amount should still not exceed 20hp per cylinder on a STOCK INTERNAL engine. It is just a safe rule of thumb. That way you won't be :crybaby:

Hello there, for the intake go to your local shop and have them mill the center divider down 3/4 to 1inch, that will take care off spray problem, will also help when your off the the squeeze, also you could use a window switch that would turn off the 75 when the 150 come's on( still a lot for stock 318)you'll also need to use a retard box to take another 6deg+/- out at that point, change the plug's get some good gas and start saving your penny's for a new block(it won't take long!!)
