Hey guys!

Ive pretty much figured out that im going to get a compucar efi nitrous kit and im going to run the 125 jets. This is going to go on a 5.0 with cutouts, 3.73 gears (maybe 4.10), and et streets. The rest stock. Im building a budget car to hurt the ricers. :D

Well on to my question lol.
What kind of fuel system will i need to handle this shot. I was thinking a 255lph pump, but i don't know if i need an afpr or whatever. Help me out.

What part of so cal are you in? If you are close to Huntington Beach you may want to drop by or call Nitrous supply. Talk to Mike Flynn he started with NOS in 1994 and hasn't left the nitrous world since he is very good source for information.

As far a fuel system goes if you are going with a wet kit and the car is mostly stock you may not need a very large pump at all even a smaller replacement pump would probably work. But you really can't go to big on the fuel pump so it is a good place to spend some extra money. Another option would be to go with the NOS 05115-II which is the 150hp dry kit and comes with an inline pump. I personally think the dry kit would be a better choice on a 5.0 from a safety standpoint but I am sure others would disagree with me.

its the wet system
I was thinking about just getting the 255 pump, do you think the stock regulator could handle that?

Hey Krazy 4
I am a Nitrous Express distributor. While I don't know what system you have I can tell you that all Stage 1 NX systems are designed to operate with stock equiptment. This includes stock pumps and regulators, how ever i recomend that you use standard style spark plugs, one heat range cooler then stock. You can also use Iridium plugs, one heat range cooler. All NX Stage 1 systems come with HP settings for 75-150HP, and are safe with ALL stock components. As for a heavier pump the stock regulator will probably have issues handling that high of a pump, not to mention you will have to have you car tuned to compensate for the added fuel flow.

i got my compucar kit from a mustang guy. he had his stock pump and was on the 125 shot. everytime he went up to the 150, he'd pop a head gasket.

He probably should have been running 100 octane fuel or better depending on his compression ratio. also he might have had his computer tuned for higher performance, which would have the cars ignition timing higher then stock( this is standard proceedure for all aftermaket plug in tuners.. Hypertech, Diablo..etc..) This would also lead to detionation. Not to say that his fuel pressure should have been checked. Also an important consideration on fuel pumps, how old was his pump?? Original possibly! Now a stock pump that has 80,000 miles on it will not excatly perform up to par as a new one! :)
