I was looking into getting one of these and was wondering if anyone had one. What do you think of it?

I saw that on the site a little while back, it seems pretty cool. I wonder what it uses to determine bottle volume?

I would imagine it probably uses bottle pressure to guess what the volume is.

But pressure can be decieving as to bottle volume. If even a half-bottle of nitrous is heated, it can have as much pressure as a full bottle. I would think it would need a scale or maybe even a LCD thermometer (think fish tank thermo) to actually tell how much volume is in the bottle. I dunno, am I over or under thinking it?

I'm not sure either. I'm gonna have to call NX and see what they say.

If you search around on the corral, you will find some info on it. I think it's also sold by one of the vendors on there under their house brand. I wonder if this is a "Trick Performance" or FJO part???

I don't remember how long ago they were talking about it but iirc it was stated that you program in the jet size or shot size and it uses a timer or some other less than accurate method of calculating the estimated bottle weight/volume...

Interesting. I wondered myself after clicking the link, "so they are extrapolating volume from pressure?" You cant do that without a constant. In this case, temp. Which sure aint constant!

This part sounds great though:
It also displays bottle pressure, plus has an optional Air/Fuel display with safety cut-offs. The “Bottle Volume Display Controller” will also control bottle heater and has over/under pressure cut-offs.

Does the Product Image look like some sort of photoshop to anyone else? I would like to see a real pic of the thing installed, if anyone has seen it.

I may have to be the Guinnea Pig on this...

I sent NX an email about it. We'll see what they say...

It seems pretty cool, but a tad pricey for what it is.

That depends on what all it can do. I haven't heard back from NX yet...

Movie of it in action

http://www.retrorelics.net/jim/Boards/Corvette/Trick%20Gauge.WMV

It has a wire to the noid and you enter from a menu the size shot your running, it keeps track of how long the noid is open vs the shot size. Tracks two stages, or a purge and a one stage.

Here is how mine is wired, it acts as a Nitrous Pressure gauge, a AFR gauge and a Nitrous AFR (or Fuel Pressure) shutdown...

Dude! Beer! That is awesome! That gauge is definitely on my list of things to get.

How much $$ is that bad boy? I like it because it actually does the job of 4 gages. Space is at a premium on some of our cars and this could really help out in that aspect, that is if it doesn't cost to much. I guess I could just sell my Autometer gages and just run this? Beer have you put one of these into a switch panel for anyone?

You can download the instructions set from Ricky's Website (I think its trickperformanceproducts.com). It is really two guages. The autometer sending units work fine with it, as well as a programmable Wideband per the instructions (LC-1 works fine). On top of that, it acts as a pressure switch and heater on/off switch, so with a relay and the gauge you have a automatic heating system without the pressure transducer (as long as the nitrous pressure is being read). In addition you can set safety for AFR (enable the system rely for say 12.3 to 10 for AFR), as well as bottle pressure safety (say allow spray w/ bottle pressures of 900-1050). If you chose fuel pressure over AFR you can set the safety up as a FPSS and shut down the system at say 45 psi...you can choose boost as well if you want that in lieu of AFR or Fuel Pressure.

Yes its pricey but it does save on real estate and has a ton of features...Its a standard 2 1/16" gauge, would fit in the panel or pod easily.

It was I think $400-450 or so IIRC
